Rachel Kushner (born 1968) is an American writer, known for her novels [i]Telex from Cuba[/i] (2008) and [i]The Flamethrowers[/i] (2013). She lives in Los Angeles. One of her influences is the American novelist Don DeLillo. Rachel Kushner’s new novel, [i]The Mars Room[/i], will be published on May 1st, 2018. Kushner is also the author of [i]The Flamethrowers[/i], which was a finalist for the National Book Award and a [i]New York Times[/i] Top Five Novel of 2013. Her debut novel, [i]Telex from Cuba[/i], was a finalist for the 2008 National Book Award and a [i]New York Times[/i] bestseller and Notable Book. A collection of her early work, [i]The Strange Case of Rachel K[/i], was published by New Directions in 2015. Her fiction has appeared in the [i]New Yorker[/i], [i]Harper’s[/i], and the [i]Paris Review[/i]. She is the recipient of a 2013 Guggenheim Fellowship and the 2016 Harold D. Vursell Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
