[b]Саймон Бретт[/b] (англ. [b]Simon Brett[/b]. полное имя - Simon Anthony Lee Brett) Родился 28 октября, 1945 в Вустер Парк, Суррей. Окончив Оксфорд, работал продюсером на BBC и в Thames Television, играл в театральных постановках. После публикации нескольких детских книг и юмористических романов, обратился к детективному жанру. Больше всего Саймон Бретт известен благодаря своей серии романов о Чарльзе Пэрисе, актере и детективе поневоле, которому постоянно приходится сталкиваться с преступлениями, так или иначе связанными с лондонской театральной средой. Серия о Чарльзе Парисе была начата в 1975 романом "Cast in Order of Disappearance" . С 1979 года Бретт - профессиональный писатель. В 1986 году он начал новую серию романов, главным героем которых стала миссис Паджетер, сыщица, которая в своих необычных расследованиях ходит по самому краю закона. Кроме того, Саймон Бретт — мастер короткой формы, его рассказы входили в сборники, выпускаемые обществом почитателей классического детектива «Malice Domestic», а также в антологии «Однажды преступив закон» и «Веселые кости». Его сценарии к радиоспектаклям получили премию Британской гильдии сценаристов.
